Five things I long for

Summer has just began in Umeå. I’m sitting infront of my laptop and looking true my photo archive and rediscover some of the moments when I stod there with my camera and I pressed the shutter.

And I came up with a list of five things I really long for.

  • Running in the mountains.
  • Sitting by the fire with good friends.
  • Photographing birds.
  • Thunder and lightning.
  • Taking a swim after a hot and sunny day.

Running in the mountains

Putting on my running shoes and vest fulled with water and a couple of bars. The weather doesn’t really matter.

Sitting by the fire with good friends.

The experience gets better if you do something you love with others. Right?

Photographing birds

I miss dragging my long and heavy telephoto lens and tripod out to watch and photograph birds.

Thunder and lightning.

Some are afraid of the lightning and the rumble from the sky. I can understand that! I have great respect for the force but I’m as much fascinated by it!

Taking a swim after a hot and sunny day.

Is there a better way to end a warm summer day?

Tell me, what do you long for?

Long time no seen

It’s been a couple of month since I touched my camera, at least my DSLR. Inspiration has been very low lately. I haven’t touched my camera 📷 this year. Just a few snapshots here and there with my iPhone
Some time has also pasted since I posted here in my blog.

But I’m starting to feel the drive to pick up the camera again! 😁 Here’s a photo from one of my favorite places, Tännforsen, Åre.

Pros and cons with the winter

Every season has its beauty! Spring that brings a fresh start and colors. The warmth that summer gives i lovely. And then autumn with beautiful colors and finally winter that brings some light in the dark with the snow.

But that’s the best things with the season! The negative is allergy, to hot, to cold, too much snow or rain, or the lack of rain and so on…

We have some snow on the ground in Umeå and the temperature has dropped below -10C for a couple of days. But it takes time for my body to get used to the cold. But I love the beautiful light the snow and the short daylight gives.

Which season is your favorite?

Photographing birds

I don’t do it as much as I want these days, but I love it! I’m talking about photographing birds. 🙂
It takes time and planning to get good photos. You’ll need to know were the birds when the light is the best. You could wander around and depend on luck. But my experience is that good planning and scouting is the key to good images!

You also need a long lens so you don’t disturb the birds. But a long lens also helps to get a cleaner shoot. It helps to have a fast camera with a fast and precise autofocus as well.

I have the gear but I don’t have the time now. But I have an archive full of photos to look at! And I have updated my portfolio with a couple of new photos!

I hope you having a wonderful day! 🙂

Thousands of candles

On Friday evening children had placed candles to highlight the International Children’s Day. The light was turned off in the park and it was very atmospheric.
I regret that I didn’t have my camera, I only had my iPhone. But I got a couple of good photos anyway.

Updated my portfolio

I have updated my portfolio with a new photo. I made the photo when we wore on a weeklong vacation in Crete earlier this year. I photographed the sunset and this photo and I took this photo right after the sun dispersed down the ocean. I remember it was calm and warm sunset.

Today I long back to the warm air and the warm ocean! 🙂 It’s a grey and misty day in Umeå.

November is here

It’s Friday, Halloween and November. It’s raining and the sky is grey and dark. The days are getting shorter and shorter. Sunset is around 15:20 where I live. The other day it snowed in the morning and in the afternoon the snow was gone…

If I look back this time of the year usually October to March meant a period of me being really tired and feeling down. Last year I didn’t feel as down as I just feel and this year, I’m feeling great! I’m tired but the lack of sunlight and that I training more and more might be the reason for that!?

Yesterday I noticed that it was November 1 and the first reaction was, oh it’s just a month to Christmas, time flies away! But on the other hand it’s not that long until March, April and the return of the sun!

I’m trying to see the positive side of things! The photo above gets to symbolizing the light in the dark, it will be warmer and lighter soon! 🙂

Wishing you a great weekend!

Tonight there’s a chance for the northern light or Aurora borealis to dance on the sky! If you have the opportunity, be sure to go out and look up to the sky! The weather forecast doesn’t look promising for Umeå, it looks like there is going to be clouds on the sky. But fingers crossed! 🙂
